With the Men’s National Team on the field, the curtain will open on the European Men-Junior Instrumental Gymnastics Championship, on Thursday morning (09/08) in Glasgow, where the Greek champions will try to leave their mark, chasing qualifiers for the finals, but also the best possible placement in the group ranking.
The Greek team (Vlasis Maras, Lefteris Petrounias, Nikos Iliopoulos, George Chatziefstathiou, Antonis Tantalidis) presented its programs on Tuesday morning (07/08), in its official training on the field of the impressive “SSE Hydro” and is now waiting for qualifier on Thursday (09/08).
Greece’s main goal in the tournament will be a successful presence in the team competition, which translates into a place in the “top 12” and minimization of errors and falls, as it is a match without any margin of error, with all the scores to be taken into account to arrive at the final sum.
At the same time, of course, there is the prospect of individual distinction, from the renowned Lefteris Petrounias (rings) and Vlasi Mara (monozyg) horse), each of which will more or less likely chase the entry into the privileged octave of his favorite instrument.
With the completion of the qualifying round, around 22:45 Greek time, the eight finalists (maximum two from each country) who will be in each of the finals on Sunday (12/08) will be announced, as well as the eight countries that qualify for the team final on Saturday (11/08). This year’s event does not include the men’s complex individual event.
